Groups Mobilization Checklist
- Let’s answer the question of WHY. Your church members will not completely buy into The Big Invite-Easter unless they understand the purpose (the why) and see church leadership passionate about the emphasis.
[themify_quote]Your WHY: to bring unbelievers to faith in Jesus, connect guests and new believers to the Church, and begin moving them to spiritual maturity. [/themify_quote]
- Begin planning a Second Impression Event: a follow up event for everyone but focused on guests within two weeks after Easter. The goal is to get guests into the habit of attending and build relationships with existing church members. Plan to provide an invitation to receive Christ and for other needs as well.
Elements of an effective Second Impression event:
- Create a warm, organized, and lay led event where all people are welcome.
- Record the information from guests and your decision counselors accurately.
- Involve your Sunday School or small group ministry with specific responsibilities.
- Promotion of the Second Impression event is the only thing highlighted at the main event. Use announcements, banners, etc. to all age groups.
- Plan to give free tickets to everyone, announce door prizes, etc.
Promotion following the main event:
- Utilize all forms of promotion at your church.
- A webpage just for the second impression event.
- Social media promotion.
Option: Make the event family focused with activities for all ages.
- Food, inflatables, games, etc.
- Responsibilities for these activities goes to your group’s ministry.
- Consider free food coupons and/or gift for guests.
Encourage those who invited persons to the main event to follow up and invite them to the second impression event.
- Ask the inviters to hang out with the invitees.
- A goal: each guest would learn the name of several church members before they leave.
- Be strategic here.
- Consider your event from the eyes of the guest.
