Week 7

This is the week starting Sunday, February 23 and before the 6th week away from Easter. The items below are things to schedule for Sunday, February 23 and to do the week following to prepare for the next Sunday, March 1.

Before the sixth Sunday prior to your Easter services, this is the span of time you start talking about The Big Invite for Easter. Share with your church the vision of having as many guests as possible for your Easter services.

  1. Hear this word from Scott N. Smith and Levi Skipper, Evangelism Catalyst at the Georgia Baptist Mission Board

  2. Get motivated. Watch this Case Study Video to see how simple this is, how exciting it can be and what is possible. If you have leaders, share it with them or in a staff meeting! (Note their “contest” ideas!)
  3. If you haven’t read through “Getting Ready For Guests” section, please do so. Visitors decide within 6 minutes of arrival whether they will return to a church. You don’t want to miss the chance to make a good first impression on those you’ll work hard to see this Easter.  Get to working on any gaps identified in your Getting Ready For Guests checklist. Make sure your greeters, welcome station personnel and your congregation are going to be prepared to meet, greet, and host a lot of guests for Easter. If you need to recruit and train, start the process now.
  4. Finalize the data that will go on your Easter web page.

Sunday Promo Checklist

1. Kick off your prayer emphasis.

2. Recruit any leaders or teams that will help you move Big Invite forward.

Groups Mobilization Checklist

  • The mission of The Big Invite-Easter will not be accomplished in our strength. This week we are going to begin PRAYING. (see above, “7×7 Prayer Campaign”)

  • Download the Group Leader Guide (editable) and get it to your Sunday School and Group Leaders.  Encourage your Sunday School or small group leaders to have their group members call every person enrolled/connected with their group as well as all the prospects/potential group members. (This can also be found on the group leader preparation page).
    • Take all the names and their phone numbers and make separate lists with 5-7 names on each.
    • Distribute the list to those present and ask them to call all the names on their list this week. Instruct them to say the following, “Hey my name is ______________ and go to ____________ Baptist Church and I’m a member of the ______________ group.  We are having a special prayer emphasis and we are contacting everyone to see how we can pray for you.  In our next gathering we are going to be praying for all the requests.  So how can we pray for you?”
    • Allow them to respond, write the request down, be ready to report that request, and thank them for sharing.
